a dark version
maybe like this sweater, navy
in sort of an old fashioned way
now forget about the fabric
you are thinking about the colour blue
and maybe a river somewhere
the river is slow moving and dark dark blue
maybe like this sweater
the curve in the river is slow
like a dog's leg
but don't think of a dog
think of the colour blue
and the sky a lighter shade
almost another colour
you are up on a hill
and thinking that the colour blue is perfect
you are thinking it is perfect
as you are lowering her into the ground
you are up on a hill and thinking
that blue is the perfect colour
and between the blue sky
and the dark blue of the water
look at my sweater
this is the blue
and the light blue
almost different colour of the sky
you are thinking that between them
there are the trees
and they are fire with colour
they are red orange yellow green flames
and that is perfect to go between the blues
and you are thinking
that blue is the perfect
blue is the perfect
blue is the perfect way to describe the day
and the day is her last
as the dirt is shoveled over the casket
as you walk away
into the blue horizon
fade to blue
