fathers and sons
you are confused
about right and wrong
you are divorced
and losing your children
your wife thinks you are ill
that you are dangerous
she is taking steps
to keep you away
you have your son
for the day
you go to a movie
and then to mcdonalds
it is not right
she has no right
you take the boy
your son
back to your motel
you tell him to watch television
while you get something out of the car
you come back to the room
he is laying on the bed
he suspects nothing
he is watching the roadrunner
and the coyote
as always, the bird wins
he is shocked when you
pour the kerosene on him
he does not understand
says nothing
the match catches
and then he is flame
you are confused
about right and wrong
remove your fear, burn your fear
you see your son on the bed
and the door
you do not hear the door
slam behind you
