it is two-thirty a.m.
you are getting a glass of water from the kitchen
or just turning off the last of the late show
you hear something outside
walk over to the window
part the curtains
and you see me
pulling a woman on rollerskates
they are old fashioned
the ones that clamp over your shoes
they have metal wheels
that sound like rolling thunder on pavement
she is having a hard time keeping her balance
but being talented in matters such as this
she stays upright
as i pull her through the spotlights
of the streetlamps
up and down our suburb street
as we fade into the darkness
out of our sight
laughing
