breakfast in bed
i am somewhere between
sleep and conversation
my face buried
in pillows
i am lying face down
spread eagled on the bed
i can feel the sun on my back
it must be a beautiful day
i feel you sit down on the bed
and can hear you talking to me
the words are working their way
i feel you peeling an orange
i feel it in my nose
it is the freshest thing i know
the orange smell
almost hurts my nose
it is so strong
it wakes me up
it is pure
like the sun
i am awake
i turn over
see you looking at me
say good morning
kiss your knee
ask for a small piece of orange
breakfast in bed
as it should be
