ballets roses

the pink ballet

you might dance for soldiers

high upon your toes

it might be forever

for soldiers never know

and the music might not stop

and no one will ever notice

and some clever man will put pen to page

ballet's roses

and i'd love to see you dance again

but they won't let me in

and i'd love to hold you close again

like i imagine you do him

i see dancers In the darkness

tried to catch one on my nose

falling in the snow

ballets rose

with my nose against the window

my mind against the fire

i told my brother you went away

he called me a ballet liar

there are soldiers marching in the streets

and dancers in the halls

ballet's roses are silent now
