the bath

what started the whole silly thing off was me carving

a penis shaped banana with my teeth

and in humorous fashion we both agreed

that i was some sort of pervert

but the banana was two fold

it led to conversation of my boredom in this prairie town

which led to silly arguments on both our parts

with the peace coming only after lengthy apologies

and attempts at sleep

and in that grey daydream that comes before sleep

a tornado of evil swept over me in volcanic eruptive fashion

fantasies of being bound together for life by suicide in unison

and i had the image of the two of us naked

in a hot tub

slashing each others wrists and eating grapes and drinking wine

and slowly falling into eternal sleep in each others arms

in the heat of the bath

the bright red swirls like some bizarre sort of dessert

woke me from my dream

and sweating the cold sweat a hungry man can sweat

stumbling into the bathroom i found my lover preparing a bath

she asked me to get the wine
