went to ask her out
wanted to surprise her
borrowed a friend's car
pulled up to her house
she was driving away with someone else
went to a bar
couldn't find a parking space
pulled up beside a hydrant
(it was late
who would notice?)
fell over the hydrant
getting out of the car
dropped my wallet
it opened like a watermellon dropped from a roof
my money blew down the street
little clouds of michael money
i caught half of it
fell in the snow
it was slushy snow
i was very wet
walked up to the bar
they were out of my brand of beer
someone stepped on my foot
almost broke my toe
the music was terrible
the air so thick you couldn't cut it with a knife
i was not a happy man
i drank several beer
ran out of money
walked out to the hydrant
my car was half a block away
a tow truck was pulling it
i caught up
it cost me ten to get it back
and of course the ticket
when he unhooked the car
one of the front tires was flat
there wasn't a spare
i drove it home flat
i was not a pretty sight
drunk
wet pants
driving a car with a flat
when i got home there was a message from a girl who had
wanted a date
i wasn't home so she went out with someone else
